The Poverty Alleviation in Marginalized Municipalities - PAMM project is dedicated to creating employment and other types of income-generating opportunities for vulnerable residents of ten targeted municipalities. The project aims to help reduce poverty and stimulate durable economic development, thereby stabilizing the socio-economic conditions of these areas in the longer-term.

III. GRANT DISBURSEMENT FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

PAMM supports larger-scale development initiatives at the community level that have strong potential to help reduce or alleviate poverty caused by unemployment and the lack of income-generating opportunities. This category can be divided into three broad sub-groups:

  •        Community integration activities
Financial support is available for activities that foster tolerance, integration and co-existence between different groups and projects that respond to the identified social needs of most marginalized/vulnerable communities, regardless of ethnicity. The goals of these activities are to mitigate conflicts and promote/support interaction among different groups through sport, recreational and cultural activities.

  •        Community enterprises / business activities
PAMM's financial assistance can be used to support business initiatives that include a larger number of participants, for example an association of milk producers, beekeepers, wine growers etc.  Whenever possible, these activities will be linked with the existing clusters of MTI.

  •        Community infrastructure improvements
Grants for small infrastructure rehabilitation initiatives can be approved when they offer a viable/feasible solution to a specific problem, thereby having a positive impact on vulnerable communities' quality of life. Projects that would improve the communities' living conditions, such as the rehabilitation of roads, the electricity supply, and the water and sewage systems, may be supported.
